The Lovers (2015)

Oil on ceramic tiles.
30 x 30 cm (x2)
Collection The University of Salford, Manchester.

“The Lovers” depicts two mobile phone masts, rising above woods. The piece contains clues to the viewer as to a narrative: the location of the setting sun behind deciduous trees on the left tile against the cooler light and spruce trees on the right suggest that the locations could be British and Central/Northern European. The phone masts are a continent apart, but held in constant/instant communication by modern technology – love knows no boundaries, recognises no borders and is a universal language.
